Introduction

The Shropshire Photographic Society is a group of sociable people with a common interest in photography.  New members, regardless of experience and camera owned (if any!), are always very welcome.  With a wide span of skills, talent and experience between us, our members are happy to discuss and explain photography in all its forms.  And, although we concentrate our efforts on colour and monochrome digital images and prints, we embrace a wide variety of photographic styles such as portraits, natural history, record, landscape, close ups and so on.

Apart from breaks during the Summer months, Xmas and New Year, we meet at 7.30pm most Monday evenings at the Hermitage Centre, behind Belle Vue Methodist Church, Shrewsbury.  Our detailed programme will be found on this website just before our season starts in September. It will comprises a variety of photographic activities such as: visiting speakers; practical evenings; and competitions.  Our competitions are judged by qualified, external judges who constructively criticise images.  Our Society also runs annually the national Shrewsbury Open Photographic Exhibition.

To encourage picture-taking, our monthly Photo-trips are one-day informal group visits to photogenic places and are ideal for learning and practising photographic techniques.  They are sociable occasions and provide a chance to chat about, and even try out, other members' camera kit.

That's what we're about!
